Values Education

At St Andrew's we base our Collective Worship on Christian Values. 'Values for LIfe' is a collection of 18 values that help us to grow and develop. They form the basis of our learning over the course of each term on a 3 year cycle.

Ethos Statement

Recognising its historic foundation, the school will preserve and develop its religious character in accordance with the principles of the Church of England and in partnership with the Church at parish and diocesan level.

The school aims to serve its community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice. It encourages an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith and promotes Christian values through the experience it offers to all its pupils.

St Andrew’s is both a Church and a Village School and therefore welcomes all faiths and denominations. We aim to foster strong links with the Much Hadham village community.

Equality Vision Statement

The School acknowledges and welcomes diversity among pupils, staff and visitors.

  • At St Andrew’s School we do not discriminate against anyone, be they staff, pupil or parent, on the grounds of their sex, race, colour, religion, nationality, ethnic or national origins or disability. This is in line with the 2000 Race Relations (Amendment) Act and 2005 Disability Discrimination Act.
  • We promote the principles of fairness and justice for all through the education we provide in school.
  • We ensure that all pupils have equal access to the full range of educational opportunities provided by the school.
  • We constantly strive to remove any forms of indirect discrimination that may form barriers to learning.
  • We ensure that all recruitment, employment, promotion and training systems are fair to all, and provide opportunities for everyone to achieve.
  • We challenge stereotyping and prejudice when it occurs.
  • We celebrate the cultural diversity of our community and show respect for all minority groups.
  • Through positive educational experiences and support for each individual’s point of view, we aim to promote positive social attitudes and respect for all.
